He maketh me to lie down . . .
So Julie and I are on Maui for Stephen and Emily's wedding. We left on Tuesday (4/1/08). I naturally have a hard time being away from church and home anyway, but its Maui right. As we board we all talk about how it would be tough being on Aloha Air since they went bankrupt. Could you imagine getting stranded on an island. I have been stranded because of blizzard, but never on an island. We arrive in Maui. First day is cool. I wake up about 5am the second day to discover that our airlines went bankrupt too.
I couldn't believe it. What are the chances that a person goes to Maui, and while they are there their airlines goes bankrupt and shuts down all service? Not to mention, Aloha had just gone bankrupt. All flights were booked solid going out over the weekend. After calling all the airlines, pulling all my strings with God and all, i realized i wasnt getting off the island until Monday at the earliest (thank you United).
Then the Scriptures were fulfilled, "he maketh me lie down in swinging hammocks, he leads me beside the turquoise waters, he restores my soul, he leads me in the paths if white beaches for his name sake." And here i am stumped by God and forced to rest in him. Aloha and have a great service on Sunday. I will miss Eddie Hunt and my church community as i awaken to the sounds of a tropical paradise.
Those of us who are over here are going to have a church service on Sunday morning. We will be thinking of you as we worship with the music of waves, breakers, wind and birds. My text will be Psalm 23.
Meanwhile back in SF make sure Eddie Hunt sings "I owe you my worship."
Check out Eddie Hunt this Sunday at Lighthouse. It will be 'grand' as Jeru would say.

Must be nice!
